About This Course

This course provides students the opprtunity to explore the world of carbon-containing compounds. It presents the general principles of organic chemistry and begins by laying a foundation on the structure of atoms and chemical bonding. Emphasis is on the structure, nomenclature, synthesis, uses and reactions of different types of organic compounds. This course also takes a brief look at stereochemistry and elements of biochemistry.
