About This Course

This is a first course on feedback control of dynamic systems. It provides basic concepts and principles of modeling, analysis and design of continuous time linear feedback control systems. Students gain experience in applying a variety of modeling techniques and analyzing system performance from several perspectives to include the time and frequency domains. Using this classical control design techniques, students learn to synthesize linear controllers capable of satisfying a variety of stability and response criteria. Practical aspects of the class include the use of case studies of real control systems as well as the use of Matlab/Simulink for simulation and design. A companion laboratory course, EEE306, provides additional hands-on experimental exposure to the design, implementation and performance of linear controllers using second order servo system.
